Inchamaree Clause

Inchamaree clause – a clause which makes the insurer liable for loss or damage to the hull or machinery arising from the:

 

a. Negligence of the captain, engineers, etc.

b. Explosion, breakage of shafts; and

c. Latent defect of machinery or hull. (Thames and Mersey Marine Insurance Co v. Hamilton Fraser and Co [1887] 12 AC 484)
